1 - Unfortunately, I don't see Apple broadening their view of the enterprise without some input from those customers who use something other than Exchange. We have gone through this cycle with RIM, SAP, Salesforce.com and others. They just don't know what they don't know.

Flames to /lotus/marketing/sucks, of course, but I think there's an incumbency on an ISV to understand their market as well.

2 - @1 It's not just marketing, your competition's products are easier to hook into and extract things like email/calendar info from, and as an ISV, I hate to say this, but your competition is way more helpful when it comes to building 3rd party solutions.

Just my experience, and I have connections that most ISVs don't have and I have struggled to get help at the right level when it's needed.

3 - Is there a official API that Apple can license to sync with a Domino server? I guess Lotus Traveler uses someting internally, that should be packaged and promoted to all comers.

4 - Did you really expect something to change today? Seriously? Come on ...

Who says Apple wants to work with IBM? Who says MS didn't buy an exclusive? Have you called your Apple Enterprise rep and asked for this?

We are all so quick to bitch and moan about IBM here .. but who is complaining to Apple? Anyone? You didn't even complain to apple ....

5 - Hi John, what a surprise that you immediately defend IBM here. THAT never happens

I'm basing my thoughts here on the fact that IBM ANNOUNCED that they would be supporting the iphone before Lotusphere and all that's come of it is the (still buggy) ultralight browser code.

I have about 20 iphone users now that wouldn't wait for official support, so I'm having to deal with IMAP. Then I get complaints about it as well. Wish I could just cut em off, but I can't. Especially since probably 4 of the top 5 people in the company have them with the last one simply waiting for 2.0.

I have to support these people and I keep saying "well Lotus announced support, but we haven't seen it yet."

WOO HOO... wondrous. You see, Apple licensed technology from MS to use their ActiveSync stuff... Lotus doesn't even have the tech to license, and that's not Apple's problem man.

I'll make my thoughts known to Apple too trust me.

6 - IBM didn't announce anything until the stage at Lotusphere. You all, the press, read into comments in the press that something more official was coming. Oh, and DWA Ultralight ships in 8.0.2 and is in preview for 8.5. So what is still buggy about it ... when it's beta. Geesh.

So basically your spouting bullshit. IBM has the tech to do this ... they do it with traveler.

I don't care what you support or who has the phones .. the domino community has always pilled on IBM, even when they can not do a damn thing about it. You basically blamed GM for the price of gas and Sony for the price of electricity. Yeah, that has any level of credibility.

7 - @6 - Get over yourself, John. It's not like we haven't heard YOU wail on IBM about lousy relationship management with 3rd party software providers. It's just as reasonable for Mr. Roling to do it as it is for Mr. Head to do it.

Apple & IBM don't play well together. They never have. It ain't news.

8 - yeah Nathan ... so its ok to just bitch and moan and not do something huh? Where is the smackdown of Apple here? Where is the blog entry asking them to fix it? Same old, same old.
